Kate Sylvester’s Shanghai Fox

019The perks of this time of year for sartorially-conscious Australians are still looking delightful and taking full advantage of mild evenings, while also looking forward to a whole new season of trends. A warmer colour palette and fabrics that you may have been missing during the warmer months may reappear as the temps change. Kate Sylvester’s newest range, born in New Zealand, is a collection of rugged winter wear that has particularly tickled my fancy.

The feminine looks take influence from the East with pretty embroidery with details of oriental birds, foxes and flowers. There are long etherial pastel dyed dresses and the sheer blouses with clever paneling that modestly evoke sex appeal. The simple day dress in a rich shade of crimson, which appears to be a perfect cut, has a splattering of embroidered florals over the bodice.

The striped dresses in blue hues with lashings of lace also catch my eye, particularly because stockings or a light pullover could easily finish this little number off as summer leaves us. But it’s not just light materials and pretty girly dresses, the collection is toughened up with leather and fur items.
