The Latest From Camp Odd Future

So Earl Sweatshirt is one of the founding homeboys of the Odd Future Gang, a group that us here at somethingyousaid.com have followed since they surfaced on the internets a few years ago. Besides skateboarding and selling a bunch of merchandise with cats on, the collective actually make decent hip-hop tracks and good accompanying videos. In Whoa, Earl wakes next to a ballerina, (who is pretty past her prime), she performs a routine while he and his crew rap over a eerie, wonky beat in a derelict caravan park. The video is produced by Tyler the Creator, who was responsible for this little piece of work, not long ago. He features in the video, decked out in Golf Wang bling and ‘preme threads, while being pushed along in a cart by a lanky Earl.

I’m not sure if it is just me being cynical but, I feel that this track lacks the density that I found on Sweatshirts’s debut, EARL, but, the backing track is pretty sweet and the video production is cool, so it will do. Hopefully he will up the ante on the other tracks on his upcoming record, Doris, which will also feature this track.
