Aleesha Dibbs Is Well Worth The Wait

Sydney songstress Aleesha Dibbs has been preparing to release her debut long-player over the last two years, and now finally we’re getting the first glimpse of the gold that she has been sitting on all this time. Previously, Dibbs has been honing her craft while renting musical prowess in songwriting and session work for illustrious Australian musicians such as Lisa Mitchell, Lanie Lane and Angus and Julia Stone.

However, she has stepped out with a completely different sound from all aforementioned, instead delving into down beat, darkly suspenseful and painstakingly crafted trip-pop. U&UR from forthcoming album AFLOAT is a perfect example of this. Which is unsurprising considering her band make-up an intimidating collaborative force, with the combined skills of former Pets With Pets drummer Jonathon Edmunds and electronic experimentalists Domeyko/Gonzalez.

While we may have to wait a little longer for AFLOAT, due out sometime this year, satiate yourselves in the interim with first release track U&UR. It’s sweetly haunting and well worth the wait.
