Mailer Daemon is Always On The Grind

Before he idiotically decided to relocate from Australia to freezing cold England, Somethingyousaid.com editor Bobby used to be a resident DJ at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory. After he departed, his good friend Mailer Daemon took over his slot and completely made it his own. Not only that but Mailer Daemon is a sick producer and artist and is set to unleash his forthcoming debut EP Gravitas next month.

Persian-blooded, American-born, Malaysian-bred and Sydney-based, Mailer Daemon’s cultural mix is reflected in the diversity of his music and his EP features the vocal stylings of several hip-hop heavyweights. On the recording, you’ll hear the likes of iconic labels Elefant Traks (The Tongue), Big Village (Jewson of Thundamentals) and One Day (Jackie Onasis).

Inspired by an eclectic mix of musical genres – from Kanye West to Depeche Mode stopping off at several places in between – Mailer Daemon’s offering presents a mix of psychedelic rock with rap-punk aesthetics supported by deep sub-club bass.

Oh, and he’s a fucking nice bloke too, so be sure to get behind this fellow. If you’re Sydney-based, you can see him launch his EP at Something You Said’s spiritual home, Oxford Art Factory, on May 9th. Entry is freeeeeeeee.
