alpha60 is very berrylicious

Got post-Fashun-Week blues? I don’t, my woes have been shifted after seeing Alpha60’s berrylicious new collection, that, in a perfect world, would keep me toasty and “totally on trend”, as the temps drop this coming Australian Winter. The colour palette for this new collection has shifted to autumnal shades that parallel some of my favourite Summer berries. That padded Freya Hooded coat in mulberry? Yes please. The Billie shift dress in blueberry with ornamental pleat, stop it! And to top off the fruit salad of a collection, the apricot Rosa Tuxedo Blazer teamed with the Flora  Balloon skirt is off the cool radar.

With the collection featuring splashings of monochromatic dots and a yummy deep green hue being very much to my taste, the shapes of the garments are also noteworthy.

As always I appreciate the silhouettes that Alpa60’s garments create, which I could only describe as “girlish tomboy”. The looks border on uniform, they do not hug your figure, they do not show off curves, they create interesting shapes that may mirror and exaggerate the body’s physical makeup. The mid-calve skirts and long shirts extend the torso and play with proportions and quirky patterns aid in making the look interesting and fun rather than conservative. I love all of the shoes too this season, they are just the way I like my Winter footwear – clunky as hell, I lust for the Daria High Heel Sandal.
