Yacht Club DJs tear up Sydney

Somethingyousaid.com’s Sonia Clarke bump-and-grinds to a selection of musical favourites,  reworked by the Yacht Club DJ’s at their shindig in Sydney.

If I was to sum up the Yacht Club DJs in one thought, it would be that I had never before danced to a song from The Lion King in a club before, and this seems to me now to be a terrible oversight. No, it wasn’t Circle of Life – that would be strange – but Just Can’t Wait to be King.

Scratch Perverts style, no genre is safe from the Yacht Club boys. Raiding everything from hip hop and 60’s funk to the aforementioned Disney, their shindig at GoodGood in Sydney saw them brazenly mixing the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers into Lady Marmalade, all the while emanating a veritable fever pitch of excitement.

Refreshingly, they seem completely thrilled to be behind the decks but look like they’d be just as happy in the crowd (all of whom, not to put too fine a point on it, I had about a decade on), dancing along as if at a slightly messy house party. It’s no wonder they’ve been included again in this year’s Splendour line-up – the boys done good.
