Music: The Perch Creek Family Jugband

Australia’s The Perch Creek Family Jugband is comprised from four siblings and one stray partner. With humble beginnings as a street jug band led by their eccentric father, Bob Hodgkins (no, not Bob Hoskins), The Perch Creek Family Jugband has been together for practically a decade and have been steadily evolving during that time. Daddy Bob is no longer in the band, but they continue to turn heads, including a fine showing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

New single ‘Big Things Calling’ ushers in a new sonic direction for the troupe – one that sees them expanding beyond their traditional jug band roots into a more indie-folk, contemporary sound, with lush five-part harmonies over a chant-like chorus. The single is lifted from a brand new album of original material that also sees them experimenting further with harmonies, instrumentation and production. Have a listen below…
