Top 5 Acts to see at Falls Festival

falls

Set over three picturesque Australian locations in the build-up to New Year, Falls Festival 2013 is certain to be an absolute winner. Why? Because playing across the stunning coastal escapes of Lorne, Victoria, Marion Bay, Tasmania and Byron Bay, New South Wales will be some belting acts. It really is a killer line-up.

Tickets are on sale now so don’t delay. Remember… you snooze, you lose. You can also find all the important deets regarding getting there and all that jazz at the Falls website. Now, here are our top five tips of who not to miss:

VIOLENT FEMMES

Violent Femmes will be performing their debut album in full. It was first released in 1983 and featured hits like ‘Kiss Off’, ‘Gone Daddy Gone’ and ‘Add It Up’. My God, it’ll be worth it just to hear ‘Blister In The Sun’. It is going to GO OFF!

LONDON GRAMMAR

Hannah Reid’s voice soaring through the fields will be amazing. Imagine if a slightly less bombastic Florence Welch fronted a Massive Attack-influenced The xx and you’d get an idea of the kind of vibe London Grammar are aiming at. Their songs are textured and nuanced and will be a treat live.

THE PREATURES

Anyone who has followed this site with any level of regularity will know that we adore The Preatures and have followed them with stalkerish levels of enthusiasm since their name was spelled the other way. The most exciting thing about the Sydney five-piece is that they just keep on getting better and better. They’ve been selling out venues across Australia, so check them out at Falls and see what the fuss is about.

THE PAPER KITES

The Aussie band recently told us that their live show: “might confuse people a little, because we enjoy trying to push our sound and as a result it can sometimes mess with your fans’ perception of your music. But it’s just an extension of what we already do and the people that come to our shows usually go along with it. There’ll still be the favourites in there somewhere.” Sounds like a performance worth seeing.

GRIZZLY BEAR

Need we explain why seeing them will be awesome? No, didn’t think so.
