Music: Dr. Martins Stand For Something

Dry the River 3

Whenever we purchased a new pair of Dr. Martins during our admittedly elongated grunge phase, we’d immediately venture to the nearest pebble beach and heartily run down it with the intention of scuffing the hell out of them to make them look suitably lived in. Of course, we needn’t have bothered, just wearing them in the moshpit of a gig had largely the same effect.

There’ll be plenty of boot-scuffing over the next few months as Dr. Martens have confirmed four of the UK’s most exciting live acts: Dry the River, Spector, Lower Than Atlantis and Sonic Boom Six will join Young Guns at their #STANDFORSOMETHING shows. Dr. Martens will be hosting five gigs in five cities around the UK and the premise is simple: the country’s most rousing live bands in tiny venues, giving music lovers the chance to catch their favourite acts up close and personal. This tour will give a platform to a host of emerging support bands from Dr. Martens’ partnership with music charity, Strummerville.

The tour dates and venues are:

28th SEP // MANCHESTER // DEAF INSTITUTE // SONIC BOOM SIX // SAVE YOUR BREATH // LTNT
12th OCT // BRISTOL // LOUISIANNA // YOUNG GUNS // CANTERBURY // ARMCHAIR COMMITTEE
26th OCT // LONDON // BIRTHDAYS // SPECTOR // JAWS // GAOLER’S DAUGHTER
9th NOV // NOTTINGHAM // SPANKY VAN DYKES // LOWER THAN ATLANTIS // THE MINX // NATURAL TENDENCY
16th NOV // GLASGOW // KING TUTS // DRY THE RIVER / MODEL AEROPLANES // HUEVO & THE GIANT

Those coming to the gigs are encouraged to wear their DM’s to be in with a chance of winning a range of prizes.

Tickets for all shows are just £5 and will be available online and instore for all shows and will be on a strictly first come first served basis. Keep an eye on www.drmartens.com/standforsomethingtour2013 for more info.
