It’s refreshing to have a very palatable folk-indie act drop into the Something You Said inbox on a dreary weekday afternoon. Not least because London-based musicmaker, Emily & The Woods, offers relief from the current dull/grey/morose feeling of England in December.

The artist has worked with the swoonsome Laura Marling and wrote tracks alongside her in her kitchen for her first EP in 2009. After gaining some recognition from these kitchen creations, Emily’s vocals in her newest EP, Then We Collide, have become even more delicate, which is impressive for an artist that is barely pushing twenty. Her beautifully soft leading-track, Helios, is currently bringing a little positivity and sunshine to our earholes.

The newest Emily & The Woods full EP isn’t going to be set free on the world until January 16, but you can sample Helios right now below.
