Certainly one of somethingyousaid.com’s favourite Australian music festivals, Laneway, is just around the corner for all you lovely things in major cities around the island. It’s such a wonderful festival due to its minimal munters in peck-revealing singlets and its inclusion of acts on the cusp of international recognition (thus giving attendees boasting rights about hearing a band/song before everyone else).

fc rbmcThis year at Laneway, Red Bull Music Academy and Future Classic are coming together to showcase some of the world’s best electronic and hip-hop acts. Future Classic being a keen promoter of great upcoming dance and electronic acts and RBMC being committed to supporting the music actively the past fifteen years. At this year’s Laneway there will be a selection of Future Classic and RMBA alumni and friends to play on the “Red Bull Music Academy presents Future Classic” stage. Acts who will perform on this particular stage range from Four Tet, Jamie xx (pictured above), Jagwar Ma, Mount Kimbie, Cashmere Cat, to XXYYXX, Earl Sweatshirt, Run The Jewels and Autre Ne Veut and Scenic.

To prepare ticket holding punters and wannabe Laneway Festival visitors, the nice chaps at Future Classic are treating people of the internet to FREE music from the acts appearing on the stage. A new track will appear on the FC soundcloud each week, with downloads available from the likes of Jagwar Ma, Mount Kimbie, XXYYXX and more. There is also a RBMA x Future Classic Laneway Festival mixtape that is littered with acts playing on the day at the festival.

This week’s giveaway comes in the form of the unbeatable dance track from Mount Kimbie, called ‘Made to Stray‘. A single that has been played many an occasion at SYS HQ. Nab it below:

You can sample (and download for later) the RBMA x Future Classic Laneway Festival mixtape below also. We think that it’d be perfect musical accompaniment to any Australia Day outdoor festivity that you may have planned.

If you can’t wait till Laneway, get along to the RBMA’s club night at Goodgod in Sydney on FEB 13th for goodness in form of Wordlife, Cliques, Bad Ezzy and Max Gosford supporting Kingdom. And if you’re in Melbourne, get along to Boney, where you can catch Oscar Key Sung, Michael Ozone and Air Max on Friday 14 February.

For more on Laneway – including videos of performances on the day and at RBMC events check out their website. Also have a peep over at the Laneway Festival page. And finally, for the downloads and a bunch of excellent music, check out the Future Classic soundcloud page. Got all that? Good.
