Rankin and Samsung are Launching People

Rankin Samsung Launching People

Here at somethingyousaid.com, we pride ourselves on offering a platform for emerging talent to show just how awesome they are. We hope that our site is a stepping stone towards some great careers for our contributors. So, it is with huge interest that we’ve learnt about an exciting new mentorship programme which has similar ambitions.

Launching People is aiming to uncover undiscovered British talent in film, music, food and photography. The project is inviting people with boundless drive and fresh, innovative ideas to team up with some amazing mentors and Samsung’s best technology, and take part in a documentary series that could very well launch them into an epically brilliant career. And when we say amazing mentors, we mean AH-MAZE-ING mentors. Like, Rankin, for instance. That’s right, you could be having a one-on-one mentorship with one of the greatest photographers of our time (seriously, he’s a proper hero of ours. Check out the guy’s work, it’s wonderful).

Rankin, together with Samsung, will be scouring the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland to find people with extraordinary potential and original ideas. To apply, all you have to do is make a 2-minute video all about you and your ambition and upload it to LaunchingPeople.co.uk by 6th March 2014.

If you need a hint on what kind of video to post, then Rankin says this: “I want to find someone that’s undiscovered. I’m looking for someone that’s got a vision and a creative eye. I want to know what they do that’s different, that’s interesting and for them to show me an idea that is unique and has an original view of the world.”

The four mentors will select candidates with whom they’ll work one-to-one. The chosen protégés will spend a few weeks together, working closely with their mentors in a house fully furnished with Samsung’s latest technology. That sounds pretty cool, right? And the public will also get to vote for one ‘People’s Choice’ winner per category, who will receive £500 for personal tuition and Samsung technology up to the value of a tasty £2000.

Check out Rankin’s video, below, and then put your creative hat on and get busy making a 2-minute video of your own.

The categories are food, film, music and photography. Find out more at LaunchingPeople.co.uk.
