Lykke Li, Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone

Having only heard snippets of Li over the past few years, collaborating with David Lynch on a haunting track and hearing her Magician-reworked number, I Follow Rivers featured in several French films including Blue is The Warmest Colour, it’s great to have her back with a new record up her fashionable Swedish sleeve titled, I Never Learn.

The record completes the trilogy of Lykke Li’s back-catalogue – It was born after a breakup, and features the warmth, honesty and longing that we became familiar with from her last LP, Wounded Rhymes and the more up-beat debut, Youth Novels. She says that “Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner.”

Featured on the forthcoming album is the teaser track, Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone. It relies on her vocals and is paired simply with gentle repetitive barre chords of an acoustic guitar; sing-a-long-while-weeping style. The beautifully shot video features Li hunched and vulnerable in a morose post-break-up state.

The highly anticipated finale album was co-produced by Björn Yttling (of Peter Björn and John) and Greg Kurstin along with Lykke Li. It will be released on May 9th.
