Meet us at the Kaleido launch!

Not dissimilarly to what we try to achieve at somethingyousaid.com, our friends at Sydney-based ‘Kaleido’ offer an outlet for creatives to connect, collaborate and share their work. And, as well as being a website,‘Kaleido’ are taking things a step further and are also a print publication.

Yup, Sydney’s newest crowdfunded newspaper will be hosting its official launch party this Saturday, 6th December at COMMUNE Studios in Erskineville to help kick start its first issue, and we are delighted to be a part of the launch.

bobby townsendOur editor Bobby (pictured, right) will be one of a handful of industry speakers at the event, offering attendees tips and advice on how to make a career from their creative skills. Bobby would like us to point out that he might panic when faced with a crowd and merely end up spending five minutes listing his favourite flavours of chips. Hopefully this in itself will be entertaining enough though.

As well as Bobby’s chip-rundown, Kaleido’s launch party will feature talks from typography legend Gemma O’Brien and children’s television writer Charlotte Hamlyn, as well as live music by Twin Caverns and an art gallery curated by Sydney artist Alice Amsel.

And Newtown’s very own brewery, Young Henry’s, will be providing their delicious beer and cider to wet your whistles

jenniferGraphic designer Jennifer Noorbergen (pictured, left) initiated the Kaleido project. “Kaleido was conceived as a way to help young creatives transition into professional life,” said Jennifer, who was recently awarded the Student of the Year at her Graduation Exhibition.

“Starting out, we all face the same difficulty of needing experience to get a job, and needing a job to get experience. Kaleido can be that first foot in the door. It can also be a place to go back to once your career is established – to share your love of creative collaboration, and connect with your current and up-and-coming colleagues.”

The Kaleido launch party is an exciting opportunity to experience the publication first hand and support a bold initiative in creative collaboration and networking.
