The Libertines are back with Gunga Din

The Libertines’ return continues at pace! Having put their much publicised troubles behind them, Carl and Pete just played a surprise triumphant set at the Glastonbury Festival, following sold out gigs at Alexandra Palace and Hyde Park last year. Excitingly, they are set to release their highly-anticipated new album, Anthems For Doomed Youth, in September ‘15. Here is their first single from the longplayer, Gunga Din, which is out today through all the usual channels.

It’s hard to tell, from this one song, whether the band are still able to emotively encapsulate the same level of zeitgeist and quintessential Britishness through their poetic-yet-visceral social commentary, but when Carl yells “Fuck it, here I go again…” it feels exciting in the same way that the “two-bob cunt” of What a Waster did 13 years ago (13 years! Shit the bed).

Here are the deets of The Libertines’ third album and their first in eleven years. It will be available as a standard twelve song CD, deluxe CD, 12” vinyl, digital download and a box set. The track listings and information for all formats is:
