Victorian artists to get the party started

The Age Music Victoria Awards and official After Party are coming up on Wednesday 22 November at 170 Russell in Melbourne. It’s going to be one heck of a night. Melbourne-based DJ, event curator and radio presenter, MzRizk will be performing at the After Party, so we asked her to give us a playlist of her ‘Top Victorian Acts’ to get us in the mood. Here we go…

Silver Linings – It’s Not Me: What a sexy song! I am a huge fan of 80s boogie and modern funk, especially for the dancefloor. This could have been placed in a montage in a 1980’s James Spader movie, perfect!

Remi feat. Sampa The Great – For Good: The beat on this track has one of the dopest grooves I have heard, I know the lyrical content doesn’t suggest party time but it is a dope singalong… when it starts you auto nod, followed by auto shoulder movement…

Tre Samuels – Raspberry Wine: Tre’s voice is like warm salted caramel, lay that over a Silent Jay beat and you got the ultimate bump n grind… If you are looking to go home with someone, this is the one you have to practise dancing too…

Silent Jay/Mandarin Dreams – Roll Over: This is the ultimate FONK. Silent Jay gets two mentions in this because his production always blows my mind… you can’t listen to this on a low volume… put up the bass, wear loose pants and enjoy yourself.

APSD Feat. Joe Dukie: This entire album is fire. This track is my favourite because Joe’s vocals are real sexy and the music has been made for body movement… If you don’t dance to this automatically, you got no soul. (unless boogie/fonk ain’t your thing)

Lance Ferguson x Late Nite Tuff Guy x Kylie Auldist – Do U Want Me 2 Stay: Triple threat right here… that is all I have to say…. look at this collab… I couldn’t believe it when I saw this… madness… sweaty, dancefloor shenanigans and madness…
