Premiere: My Old Dutch – Howlin’ Marilyn
We’re excited to start our week by premiering the cracking new video clip from explosive Melbourne two-piece, My Old Dutch. This new single, Howlin’ Marilyn, is a belting, two-and-a-half-minute, fuzzy banger led by a powerful riff soaked in feedback, all held together by a thumpin’ beat and some old school 50’s jukebox vocals. Apparently it is the first song that the lo-fi rock-n-rollers ever worked on. Essentially it was what got this duo into the jam room in the first place.
Along with the accompanying clip, the song tells the tale of lust’n’love between a guy and his werewolf girlfriend. Ah that familiar old chestnut! We’ve all been there, right? Check it out, above, and if you like what you see/hear then you can keep up to date with My Old Dutch on Facebook.
Dubbed by some as ‘Hamburger Rock’, My Old Dutch originated from an idea for a recording project and quickly evolved into a live set of original 50’s and 60’s inspired dirty rock songs. The band have been turning heads since their formation by combining elements from those decades with contemporary guitar sounds and hip-shakin’ beats, while their melodies dip in and out of a range of genres.
They are definitely a duo to keep on your radar and, if you are in the Melbourne area, you can see them at the following venues in November/December:
14th November – Elsternwick Hotel, Melb VIC
20th November – Yah Yah’s, Fitzroy, Melb VIC
4th December – Brunswick Hotel, Melb VIC
