Le Villejuif Underground – Can You Vote For Me?
Here at Something You Said, we have an old friend by the name of Nathan Roche. Sometimes he writes words for us about things like alien hunting in the Northern Territory of Australia. Other times, we interview him about his novels or his music.
Then he goes off the radar for ages and we don’t know where he is or what he’s up to. Sometimes we hear rumours he’s in France or back in Australia but we’re never entirely sure. Then we get an out-of-the-blue email from him, just as we did today.
“I have been brainwashed by them, I am a puppet for their political message,” his message states, talking of his new France-based band, Le Villejuif Underground. “I don’t get their jokes, their sense of humour. I just want to be back in a Marrickville sharehouse and to watch Shaun Micallef.”
The band in question have just dropped a new clip. “It’s a parody of the Marie Le Pen (VOTE 1 SATAN), campaign video,'” Nathan tells us. “We hope to tour Australia later this year, 30+ shows, wineries, surf-life-saving-clubs, crack houses and bowls clubs. I need to show the Frenchmen a proper OZ experience, take em back to my hometown of Townsville, across to Magnetic Island for the toad racing at Arcadia and then for a full moon party.’
Le Villejuif Underground will release an LP on BORN BAD RECORDS in September/October. Check out the new video (above) and keep up to date with news of the band on Facebook.
