EP Premiere: SouthScope – Hindsight
We’re excited to today premiere Hindsight, the brand new EP from Sydney-based band, SouthScope.
In case you aren’t up to date with SouthScope, here’s the history lesson. They are a trio of siblings, forming as a band in early 2016 when songwriter and frontman Leon Stevens returned from five years living in Sweden. After playing and gigging in a few different bands/projects in Sweden and exploring the music scene of Stockholm, Leon landed back on Australian shores and teamed up with brother Tyrone on drums/vocals and sister Ruby on bass/vocals. The three of them created an upbeat alternative rock sound, accompanied with moody lyrics and catchy harmonies, and lo, SouthScope was born.
The lead single from the EP is ‘Selfless’. Leon says that the idea behind the track is, “about turning negative into positive. It can be so easy to dwell on the bad things and experiences that happen through life, but until you give a little back, humble yourself and take consequences for actions, you may stay in that rut forever.”
Talking about the EP, Leon explains, “The idea behind Hindsight was to write 4 different tracks about 4 different times/experiences in my life that I’ve now gazed back on only to realise that hindsight is the only thing these songs/moments have in common. I’ve tried to create a certain nostalgia in the music and lyrics that I hope people can connect with.”
Have a listen, here…
The Hindsight EP will be released 18th of August 2017. Keep up to date with the band on Facebook.
