Interview: Getting to know Sumner
Tassie duo, Sumner have just dropped their new single, Pictures, and have an EP out soon. We asked them to tell us about themselves:
We are a Tasmanian alternative electronic duo. Best friends that love to make beats together
“Pictures” is… our latest single. It was inspired by the feeling that sometimes strikes on a night out in da club, where you just feel distant and disconnected from the people around you; you struggle to vibe with all the laughing and music. So sometimes you’ve just gotta go dance it off.
Our upcoming EP is… out February 16! We’re excited to share it, it’s been in the works for around two years. It explores experiencing mental health, using music as a form of catharsis, and moving on to a cleanier, healthier state of mind.
Home is… beautiful old Tasmania. We live in Launceston, we’re blessed to live in such an environmentally rich part of the world. Would definitely recommend a road trip holiday to Tassie.
We spend too much time… having ridiculously long-winded philosophical conversations on the couch. Usually with cup of tea in hand. We are nans.

We’ve never… been happy owning only one guitar or one synthesiser. Chloe recently purchased a new fender baby so we’re experiencing some exciting times.
It might surprise people to learn that… Sumner is Chloe’s middle name! Yet to be confirmed, but it’s rumoured there is relation somewhere down the line to Gordon Sumner AKA Sting from The Police (Every Breath You Take is a tune).

Sumner’s debut EP, All That I Am, is out February 16.
