Five things you didn’t know about SEVSONS
SEVSONS have recently been turning heads within Sydney’s alt-rock circles. Here are five things you didn’t know about them:
1. The band were originally a post-hardcore outfit named ‘Seasons’ started by Christian Doyle with Christian’s younger brother Jono as the original drummer. Over time the direction of the band changed, resulting in a name change and the main 3 members were solidified in Christian, Rhys and Harrison, with Alasdair being the final addition.
2. The band has an eclectic music taste, ranging from a love of Avenged Sevenfold, Dead Letter Circus, Karnivool, Circa Survive and TesseracT, to Wu-Tang Clan, Men at Work, Pogo, Panic! At the Disco and David Bowie, amongst others.
3. All of the members have other careers that keep them busy; Christian is finishing off his degree in audio engineering, Harrison works as a mechanical engineer, Alasdair splits his time between a journalism degree and session drumming and Rhys is a solicitor.
4. SEVSONS aim to produce at least one full length release per year and don’t ever take a break from writing new music; in February 2017 they released their debut, self-produced album ‘Ad Infinitum’ and 2018 will see the release of their next EP which has already been completed. Writing is well and truly underway for a full-length release for some time in 2019.
5. SEVSONS prefer not to pigeon hole themselves in any one particular genre and are constantly revitalising their sound based on what they feel like creating as a band.
