Interview: Getting to know Foxtrott
Foxtrott (aka Marie-Hélène L. Delorme), has been releasing a trilogy of EPs throughout the year, culminating in a full album release in October. We asked her to tell us about herself:
I am… a person named Marie-Hélène, who makes music as FOXTROTT. I produce, write and sing, amongst other things. I’m from Montreal, a city in Quebec, which is in Canada.
Meditations I-II-III… is my second album, a series of songs exploring the inner and outer world and connection with the higher self. It’s an album released in 3 parts, and released in its full form on October 5th.
Home is… a space where one feels at ease, in the moment. I think it’s an inner state first. It’s a place where you feel welcomed and embraced as you are. It also has to smell good.
I spend too much time… looking at picture of dogs for adoption!
I’ve never… been to Asia. Please invite me.
It might surprise people (who don’t know Montreal) to learn that… I didn’t speak english very well before the age of 14. I grew up in the east side of Montreal, where there was almost no anglophones. Even more surprising, due to my good friends and their families, I was fluent in Haitian creole before I spoke proper English.
In the future… I hope I look back on my life and feel that I’ve been fully present, gave my best and loved as much as I could. I hope to build meaningful connections, help others in any way possible, and participate positively in this wild thing called life
