Video Premiere & interview: AKA Lui
We’re excited to today premiere the new video from Byron Shire-based indie-dance artist, AKA Lui. To celebrate this release, we asked him to tell us about himself:
I am… AKA Lui, a creation of Mezz Mezzrow, designed to vibe harder than your dad in the 70’s.
Hey! I Don’t Want That Anyway is… a good friend of mine, it has been with me since AKA Lui was conceived. She stuck by me through the process of learning production and mixing, so as you can imagine she’s seen some shit. Thanks for sticking by me, and for going as hard as you possibly could. I’ll never forget you xx
Home is… the ocean. It fixes me up. Smooth vibe. Low key. Plus 1’s.
I spend too much time… in the kitchen. Honestly around 6 hours per day. I sort myself a proper good brekky, lunch and dinner, and it’s the general hang zone with the housemates. We take breaks from our creative endeavours and meet in the kitchen for a solid shit talking session, nek minit it’s 1 AM and the Vengaboys have showed up looking for the party.
I’ve never… given someone a bad haircut. People always talk shit about my haircuts but if you look at the stats, my track record is without fault. I specialise in skullets and have just upgraded to a BPA free bowl if you want that new-age bob whilst looking after your health.
It might surprise people to learn that… I was hired by a gentleman named Jevaan The Sure-Footed One, for 6 months, where my job was to follow him everywhere and narrate his life back to him in a pulchritudinous and delicate fashion.
