Our top ten tunes of the week – March 13
These are the ten songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days:
1. MARSHES – C.B.F.
Sydney’s Marshes says about her new single, “Can’t be Fucked is about wasting time with people you actually don’t really care about, but you keep doing it anyway because there’s no one else.”
2. G Flip – Lady Marmalade
G Flip covered this classic for triple j’s Like A Version. And she did it with an amazing backing band, featuring JessB, Thandi Phoenix, Isabella Manfredi, Jess Kent, Alex The Astronaut, Rosie Fitzgerald, Clio Renner, Kate Richards, Bernice Tesara and Carla Dobbie.
3. Julia Johnson – Breathe Him In
Julia will be tuning up her 36 string autoharp and touring the east coast of Australia in March.
4. Carla Wehbe – Don’t Tell Me
Check the debut single from the Sydney-based singer, songwriter, musician and producer.
5. Flume feat. Toro y Moi – The Difference
Speaking of the release, Flume says: “We made this song between a day at my place in LA and a day at Chaz’s spot in Oakland. This was our first time working together, I’ve been a Toro Y Moi fan for a while. His song ‘Talamak’ is a longtime favourite. I listened to that one a lot when I first started Flume as a project.”
6. The Killers – Caution
The band’s highly-anticipated sixth studio album, Imploding The Mirage, is set for release on 29th May on Virgin EMI. They are doing a huge world tour this year.
7. Tim Minchin– Leaving LA
This release comes at the head of his mammoth sold out Australia tour, which includes five shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre.
8. mxmtoon – quiet motions
Following the release, mxmtoon will embark on North American tour and will perform as special guest for Lauv in Asia.
9. Strange Bones – Underdogs
Strange Bones are playing The Road To The Great Escape in both Glasgow and Dublin, alongside The Great Escape, and a couple of headline shows in May.
10. IJALE – Pages In My Passport
“Pages in my passport is simply about self-actualization; Silencing that voice in your head that tells you that the dreams you have aren’t meant to come true and pouring every piece of one’s self into making those dreams a reality,” says IJALE.
