Getting to know Deadlights

Brisbane-based post-hardcore act Deadlights have just dropped their new track, Born Of A Lie. We asked them to tell us more:

We are… Deadlights. A four-piece post-hardcore band, and a group of best friends. We love our music, and we love each other.  

‘Born Of A Lie’ is… the first single from our upcoming album ‘The Uncanny Valley’. It is an exploration into the idea of technology being our generations new god. We worship it, we are controlled by it, we consume it, we love it. Everyone needs something to believe in, to feel a part of, and our technology has filled the hole that religion no longer can.  

Home is… the ever-growing and ever-expanding city that is Brisbane. We have all lived here all our lives. It suits us.  

I spend too much time… thinking about ‘what if’ scenarios.  

I’ve never… toured overseas. Curse you, COVID.  

It might surprise people to learn that… although a lot of our lyrics talk about spirituality and supernatural concepts, I don’t really believe in anything without strong logic and reasoning behind it. (soz)
