Getting to know Delaire The Liar

London-based four-piece Delaire The Liar have released their new single ‘HALLOWEEN’. We asked them to tell us about themselves. Here’s vocalist Fin:

Delaire The Liar is a four-piece emo/punk outfit from London (UK), which admittedly is a pretty weird name that takes quite a long time to explain! Ultimately, it’s a book reference, we love reading and writing and playing rock shows and distortion pedals and screaming into the abyss.

‘HALLOWEEN’ is about being so desperate to regain something you’ve lost that there is no last-ditch effort too drastic. It’s about ritual and self-sacrifice, it’s theatrical, dramatic. It’s pleading and it resolves with definitive decision and action. Aside from that, it’s an absolute banger that involved us lighting a really big fucking fire.

Home is, I would’ve said the pub down the road from our old rehearsal space in Camden, London. But unfortunately, that rehearsal space shut for good after being rinsed by the first UK lockdown so now, I guess it’s wherever the nearest pub is to our next rehearsal space is, which is quite fickle but it’s thirsty work, this band shit.

I spend too much time drinking coffee and watching hardcore live videos on the hate5six YouTube channel, which I have on right now as I type.

I’ve never been to Australia, but we would all very much like to and play in someone’s house or on their roof (The Chariot – Perth 2011 style)

It might surprise people to learn
I think Bruce Springsteen is overrated (my opinions are my own and do not reflect the attitudes of the whole band.)

Keep up to date with the band on Insta.
