Interview: Getting to know CHEZ
Boorloo/Perth-based pop artist CHEZ has returned with her new single. We asked her to tell us about herself:
I am… so good! Thanks for asking 😉
My name is… Chez, I’m a singer/songwriter from Perth, Western Australia.
‘so good’ is… a step into a new era of exploring an alternative pop sound. Writing about my trauma, experiences I have had, and emotions I deal with to this day. ‘so good’ is a song about lying to your friends and yourself about the state of your relationship. Where you begin to live in a false sense of reality creating a Barbie-esque world where everything is polished and everything is perfect – so you don’t have to deal with the embarrassment of not being happy with your partner and wanting out.
Home is… wherever my family and friends are (yep, as cheesy as a four-cheese pizza)
I spend too much time… overthinking about what food I should order in case I make the wrong decision.
I’ve never… joined a cult.
It might surprise people to learn that… I’m missing a knuckle on my right hand.
