Getting to know the stamps
Melbourne-via-Fremantle indie-pop trio the stamps recently released their new single. We asked them to tell us about themselves:
We are… three best friends who write, play and sing about all their feelings, and are lucky enough to get to do it together.
Slow Burn is… our newest single!!! I think it’s a new era for the band as we find our own voice and this track feels the most us. The recording process was the best we’ve ever had, working with Tom Josephs and Owen Butterworth. We had the most fun/silly/comfortable time recording and hopefully you can feel that in this track.
Home is… less about a place and more about a feeling. Moving from Boorloo/Perth to Naarm/Melbourne taught us that home is wherever we’re surrounded by connection and creativity. We feel so so grateful to have so many different homes in so many different places.
We spend too much time… together. When we first moved to Melbourne we were sharing a small bedroom between the three of us – Scarlett and Sofia slept on a double bed and Rubina slept on a single mattress on the floor. We spent almost every moment with each other – a big bonding experience.
We’ve never…. let anything get in the way of having a good time (the stamps love a good boogie).
2024 has been… A year of transformation and discovery. Moving cities was a huge step for us personally and as a band, and it’s shaped so much of who we are now. Looking back at the songs we’ve written this year, we noticed that leaving home and finding our voices was a recurring theme.
In 2025… We hear it’s the year of the stamp—don’t ask me where we heard that, but it feels like it has some astrological weight behind it. Rubina did mention that Pluto’s move into Aquarius is all about big social changes. Whether it’s cosmic destiny or just good timing, we’re ready to lean into whatever 2025 brings.
