New Music Video: Arcade Fire, Reflektor

In this musical age, where there’s so much music, all of the time, constantly bombarding your ears, it’s hard to really look forward to new releases in the same way people did pre-internet. Back then, you’d hear a song on the radio, or perhaps read about a band in a magazine, and then excitedly await the album release. That kind of anticipation is rare today, but there are still some bands that have the power to get you realllly excited, months in advance, about their new material. Arcade Fire are one such group, and we’ve been pooing ourselves with excitement for ages now about a new album.

To further whet our appetites, they have just unleashed on the world a new video for lead-single, Reflektor. The seven-minute black and white clip, directed by Anton Corbijn, sees the gang in whopping papier-mâché heads, belting out the track in the back of a truck driven by Win Butler and Régine Chassagne.

Another mention-worthy thing about Reflektor is that it features everyone’s favourite spaceboy, David Bowie. The Thin White Duke supplies “a brief backing vocal on the James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) produced track…”

The band have also put out another video for the song, which is an interactive experience directed by frequent Arcade Fire collaborator Vincent Morisset. See it here.
