Celebrate Air Max Day in Sydney
On the 26th March, 1987 the Air Max 1 entered the world. Safe to say it was something of a success. Twenty-nine years on, Nike is celebrating the ongoing Air Max revolution by launching Sydney’s very first Air Max dedicated space.
We headed along last night to the Nike Sportswear Air Max Lab for a sneaky preview ahead of its official opening this Saturday the 26th March – which is officially Air Max Day.
The Lab is set over three floors of a large warehouse-style space in Surry Hills. It houses design, art and installations inspired by Air Max from some of Australia’s best artists, as well as an interactive and immersive sneaker design experience.
You can get your sneakers cleaned in a shoe-shine style (see picture), get some customised dubraes made up and, of course, shop for some brand new footwear.
Last night, the Lab was filled to the brim with specially invited guests, who sipped champagne, used the interactive iPads and checked out Air Max designs from the past and present, all to the beats provided by legendary Sydney DJs Levins and Franco.
If you want to check out the innovative Air Max Lab for yourself, then what better time to do it than tomorrow, Air Max Day (Saturday 26th March 2016)?
At this exclusive event for the sneaker lovers of Sydney, the Air Max Lab will be open in its entirety for the first time.
Sydney will be the first city in the world to officially kick off Air Max Day, so head along for an epic celebration of Air Max. Details can be found on the Air Max website.
Nike will also be celebrating all things Air Max online at a brand new destination – a hub of history and innovation. Check it.
