More unmissable acts at The Great Escape

With less than seven weeks until The Great Escape kicks off Europe’s festival season, another 150 artists have been added to the already kaleidoscopic line-up. This brings the tally up to 450 acts performing in 30+ venues across Brighton, on the sunny south coast of the UK. To see the new names on the line-up, go here.

We’ve already suggested some acts not to miss, but with a bill so vast, we thought we’d better make a few more suggestions. So here goes…

RAT BOY

UK prodigy RAT BOY (pictured, top) amalgamates slick, sampled sounds with hip-hop and indie-punk. He played at last year’s Glasto, won NME’s Best New Artist of 2016 and was nominated for BBC’s Sounds of 2016 and MTV Brand New 2016.

CUT_

CUT_ have played numerous shows, including performances at Lowlands, PITCH, ADE, Eurosonic and various appearances on Dutch national television. “We find that live shows are a way to really distinguish yourself as an artist nowadays,” they explain. “Especially when, like in our case, the music is focused on electronic production. We make a point of doing everything live.”

MOSA WILD

They’ve only got one track to their name so far but it’s turned a lot of heads. Check out the hypemachine no.1 track ’Smoke’.

DEAN LEWIS

Australia-based singer/songwriter Dean Lewis dropped his debut track at the end of last year and embarked on a tour of Aus with fellow TGE performer, Lisa Mitchell.

POM POKO

Excellent guitar pop from Norway! Check out this sick demo… ‘It’s A Trap’

DAKOTA

Dakota’s new project titled “Leda” blends psychedelic guitar riffs with indie-pop roots, coming together into a neatly packaged six-track EP. But don’t let this lo-fi charm fool you, the live show of this four piece band gets you to the edge of your seat. They seamlessly blend California feels with Garage Rock and Dream Pop.

The Great Escape takes place in Brighton from 18-20 MAY 2017 and is not to be missed.
