Start the Virgens once more
Back in June of last year, Karen O took her psycho opera, Stop The Virgens, to Sydney. Alongside members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Dead Weather was a chorus of Sydney’s own female singers and songwriters, collectively known as the Virgens. They were key to the narrative, the sound and the aesthetic of the show, which was performed at the Opera House across several sold-out nights.
On January 23rd, following the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Sydney visit, the Virgen chorus will be collected on one bill for one night only – 10 original bands and artists joining together in a showcase, presented by FBi Social.
For a teeny tiny $10, you can check out Rainbow Chan, Moon Holiday, the insanely brilliant New Brutalists, Twincest, Billie from Daily Meds, Something You Said’s very own Jack Colwell and his Owls, Perisanlovecake and Genevieve Fricker. Oh and some bloke you might have heard of called Nick Zinner will be doing a DJ set. What a night it is sure to be.
If you’re in the city and have thus far managed not to actually melt in the heat, then don’t miss Sydney’s best, brightest and bloodiest, from 6pm till midnight on the 23rd at FBi Social in Kings Cross. It’s gonna be awesome.
