Shabazz Palaces, Swords and Pimps

Lifted from Shabazz Palaces’ incredible 2011 record, Black Up, is An Echo from the Hosts that Profess Infinitum. The sound of this group is so interesting and post-modern and I have been raving about them for years to anyone that will listen.

This song features soulful spoken-word and a technical, heavy bass, vibrating backing beat, their signature sound. The brand new accompanying video clip for this song is a cinematic vision of sword-weilding pimps and swelling oceans captured in black and white.

Even if the video took time to be released, it’s further proof of how impressive the output from this group is on all creative fronts.
