Must-see acts at Malasimbo Festival
The Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, running from the 27th February-3rd March, is a relatively recent addition but is already drawing some impressively big international artists. Now in only its third year, it has already established itself as one of the most anticipated festivals in the Asia-Pacific region. It is set amidst the beautiful tropical gardens of Puerto Galera in the Philippines with the festival grounds themselves situated on the foothills of Mount Malasimbo and featuring a grass-terraced amphitheatre that overlooks a beautiful bay. Not too shabby, right?
This year the line-up features an amazing collection of artists, so here is our top 5 to check out if you are lucky enough to attend and party in paradise:
JOSE GONZALEZ
Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist Jose Gonzalez shares the headline slot at this year’s festival.
ROBERT GLASPER EXPERIMENT
Fresh off the success of winning a Grammy for best R&B album 2013, Robert Glasper brings his unique Jazz to the Philipines.
ROY AYERS & LONNIE LISTON SMITH
Roy Ayers needs little introduction as he is a jazz-funk legend and has been releasing hit records since the early 70’s.

In 2013 Omar returned with a new critically praised single from his forthcoming album. Last June I got the chance to interview him, and you can check that out here.
