David Ford & Jarrod Dickenson’s joint shows
Last summer, somethingyousaid.com put on its first ever gig: a joint-headline show from David Ford and Jarrod Dickenson in Brighton. Fantastically, it sold out and climaxed with the duo leading the entire audience to a local park for a big ol’ unplugged singalong. Lovely stuff. Well, it was so much fun that we’re all joining forces to do it again in four venues across the UK over the next few weeks.
Ford’s live show has “genuine depth and striking authority” (Rolling Stone) making him “one of Britain’s best.” (The Times). He plays these upcoming shows with a new EP in his arsenal. Fourtracks features very close-up and personal songs that touch upon his experiences during his USA tour in June 2013, in particular driving into Arizona on the day of the terrible wildfires in which 19 firefighters died. Recorded on his old four-track portastudio, the EP adds to a magnificent, eclectic body of work which includes four lauded studio albums.
Jarrod Dickenson’s mixture of folk, Americana and roots blues has won him an ever-growing army of fans during support slots for the likes of Laura Marling and Simone Felice. He has a “remarkable voice that is as powerful as it is haunting, as evocative as it is memorable,” (Maverick) and returns to the UK with his new EP, Songs from Willow St, a collection of four outstanding offerings written in his Brooklyn apartment. The EP follows his second full-length album, “The Lonesome Traveler” which was “a mature and superbly constructed set of songs… 5 Stars,” (Country Music People).
