Jack Colwell and the Owls, Far From View
We’re bursting with pride at somethingyousaid.com this week, as our very own Jack Colwell unleashes his brand new, dazzlingly beautiful single and video, Far From View.
As well as being an all-round lovely human-being and a fine writer, Something You Said contributor Jack is also a classically trained, alt-pop prince who is making waves in the Australian music scene. This new single shows why.
On it, he is joined by the choir from Karen O’s Psycho Opera ‘Stop the Virgens’. Inspired by the sounds and loneliness of ‘Twin Peaks’, Far From View takes its listeners on a journey of heartache, via strings, subtle melodies and intricate harmonies.
Shot on 16mm film, the video is heavily inspired by the work of Lynch, De Palma, and Crewdson as it tells a nostalgic story about a teenage girl’s sexual awakening on prom night.
