Jen Cloher’s Stone Age Brain
Do you feel like some foot stomping, hip shaking, raucous swagger? Yes? Well that’s good, because Melbourne artist Jen Cloher has just dropped an ace new single which is exactly that. Stone Age Brain is an unapologetic romp which demands to be played LOUD. And the male vocal on the track? Yup, you’re right, it is indeed You Am I legend Tim Rogers.
The rollicking post-punk song will appear on the very first Milk! Records 10’ compilation, due out this August, but you can buy the track now for a ludicrously cheap three bones here.
Following on from an epic 2013, which saw Cloher play a huge 40-date tour with Dyson Stringer Cloher and also receive a nomination for the Australian Music Prize for her third album In Blood Memory, this new track triumphantly announces her return. And it’s a return that will see a handful of live gigs around her home country.
With a band comprised of the magnificent Courtney Barnett (guitar), Bones Sloane (bass) and Jen Sholakis (drums), Cloher will perform a string of special shows in July 2014, her only headliners this year. Here are the dates…
Friday 18 July Sydney – Newtown Social Club
Saturday 19 July Melbourne – Shebeen
Sunday 20 July Adelaide – Wheatsheaf (solo)
Friday 25 July Brisbane – Skukum Lounge / Junk Bar (solo)
