Clockwork Orchestra, The Generator Girls
We are mega excited to be starting the week by premiering the brand new video from Dublin songwriter, producer and self confessed “control freak extraordinaire” Paul Mangan, who is better known to you as Clockwork Orchestra.
His second album is coming out on December 1st and, as an appetite whetter, he has released this awesome new clip for the song “The Generator Girls”, which will be the lead single from the LP. The intensely quirky, animated clip was created by German born, Queensland-based Heiko Windisch and is almost entirely monochromatic. It showcases Windisch’s penchant for dark yet playful cartoon imagery detailing a quasi-futuristic fantasy world of drug addled androids, a keyboard-playing praying mantis and a claw crane vending machine containing internal organs instead of toys.
What makes the clip even more interesting is that Heiko at no point heard the music when creating the animation and was in fact fed opaque instructions by Paul such as “we need jars with chattering teeth and exploding robots”. The pair felt it would lead to a less predictable end result which would match the chaotic nature of Clockwork Orchestra’s music.
Check out the excellent the clip (above) and, if you like what you see/hear, you can keep up to date with Clockwork Orchestra here and learn more about Heiko Windisch here.
