Abbey Road Studios extend into education
Always dreamt of a career behind the curtains of the music industry? Well, this could be your opportunity!
It’s hard to underemphasise the legendary place that London’s Abbey Road Studios takes in the canon of modern music. With a colourful history panning over 80 years, its fruits encompass celebrated work by many of the world’s most famous recording artists including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Kanye West, Elton John, Frank Ocean, Elbow, Lady Gaga and Adele. Some of their recent projects have included engineering albums by M.I.A, Johnny Marr, Iggy Azalea, Grace Jones, My Bloody Valentine, and Ed Sheeran. Have we piqued your curiousity yet?
To our delight, Abbey Road Studios have just announced they’ll be extending into education with the launch of the Abbey Road Institute. Offering a twelve month Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering, the course will be taught by a plethora of qualified lecturers and recognised music industry experts.
The Institute is about to be launched in London, with further implementations to arrive in Berlin, Munich, Melbourne and Sydney for a September 2015 student intake. Students at all campuses will have the possibility of visiting and learning at the London counterpart.
Peter Cobbin, Senior Director of Engineering at Abbey Road Studios said of the initiative, “Abbey Road Institute benefits from the studios’ 80 years of audio expertise, distilling some of our knowledge into a curriculum of classroom learning and practical studio experience. I’m delighted that the Institute will nurture and inspire a new generation of audio professionals.”
