The Fin Collection presents ELEVEN
Heads up Sydneysiders, here’s something you might wanna take a look at. A new group exhibition is opening this week. ‘ELEVEN’, presented by The Fin Collection and supported by Sun Studios, features eleven emerging Australian artists, including someone from this very parish.
Somethingyousaid.com contributor Rose Ashton will be exhibiting work, alongside Dina Broadhurst, Nick Hernandez, Dion Horstmans, Tanya Linney, George Raftopoulos, Mia Taninaka, Gemma Ward, Brooklyn Whelan, Alexi Willemsen and Amy Finlayson, who is the curator of the exhibition.
Like our own Rose, Amy (pictured) is a successful fashion model with a passionate interest in art. She has not only been focusing on developing her own skills, but also spending time nurturing this group of talented young artists.
Her aim is to present these contemporary artists in a unique way, marrying the traditions of art institutions with the changing tides of our consumer culture.
It could be described as an ‘eco yet underground’ pop-up exhibition that allows the work to shine in a totally different light.
Amy told us, “The Fin Collection’s goal is to make art accessible in a myriad of ways and these exhibitions are key to showcasing the insane new talent that is surging around Sydney at this time. I want my shows to have the vibe and energy of New York’s early street art scene, mixed with an awareness and intellect distinctive of our new generation”.
The central focus of this show is ‘small works’ to help encourage those wanting to start their own collections.
The exhibition opens this Wednesday, May 27th and runs until 9th June at Sun Studios in Alexandria.
