Interview: Getting to Know Teischa

Introducing 18-year-old Teischa, a Perth-based musician who won the Telstra ‘Road to Discovery’ competition last year and has just released her new single. We asked her to tell us more about herself. Here she is, in her own words:

I am Teischa. I’m a singer/songwriter from Perth, Western Australia.

‘Couldn’t Care Less’ is my recently released single. It’s an honest and personal story about money and relationships. It is off my debut EP, which is due to be released in August this year!

Perth is home. I love travelling and being on the road but nothing beats coming home to our beaches and the growing local music scene.

I spend too much time contemplating.

I’m currently listening to Selah Sue, Banks and the new Alabama Shakes album.

It might surprise people to learn that I grew up on an island called Phuket in Thailand. I lived there for nearly ten years and moved back to Perth when I was 15 to pursue music. It’s still one of my favorite places in the world and was an incredible place to grow up. A lot of what I write about is inspired by memories and experiences from living in that culture.

In the future, I hope to be able to travel everywhere, playing my music for people around the world. That’s the dream!
