Don’t miss the FBi SMACs Festival
Hey you! Wanna celebrate Sydney’s brightest talent/undiscovered gems at the first ever FBi SMACs Festival? We certainly do!
In association with Sydney Festival and Carriageworks, the festival is gonna be sick, and has just got a whole lot sicker, with a second round of artists having just been added to the already impressive local lineup.
Joining some of Sydney’s most exciting new voices are technicolour superstar Wave Racer, surfpop duo Hockey Dad, avantpop heroine Montaigne, FBi’s Northern Lights winners The Walking Who, and Gideon Bensen of The Preatures.
Forward-thinking producers Ribongia and Moonbase Commander will step into the FBi Click Rave Cave presented by MoVement, alongside Black Vanilla, Dro Carey, Wordlife and more.
A semi-regular guest to the FBi studios and worthy opponent in the Sydney Community Cup AFL match, DJ Albo (yes, that Albo) will make his festival debut at the FBi SMACs. Anthony Albanese, Federal Member for Grayndler, will keep the crowd entertained between bands.
This new round of artists completes a massive Sydney-only bill, including Cosmo’s Midnight, Tuka, Dustin Tebbutt, Vallis Alps, Palms, Fishing, Shining Bird, Holy Balm, Gordi and more (see full lineup below).
Alongside the stellar lineup of music, the festival will showcase Sydney’s most exciting artists. Be surprised and delighted by immersive works from shape shifting dance performer Bhenji Ra, dog-loving mystic David Capra, feminist hysterics Hissy Fit, playful sculpture artist Lewis Doherty, sisters Michaela and Claudia Gleave collaborating for the first time, and installation artist Rosie Deacon (whose work is pictured, top) building a riotously colourful mini golf course.
In addition to some of Sydney’s best eats, festival goers will be able to fill their bellies at Molto Benet, a traditional Italian BBQ created by sophisticated lover Donny Benet.
The festival builds on the success of the annual FBi SMAC Awards in recognising Sydney’s creative trailblazers, with many past and current FBi SMAC Award nominees featured on the bill.
