Musica Copa returns in February
Obviously we’re all about music at somethingyousaid.com. But did you also know we seriously love us some football? And everyone loves charity, right? So when you combine all three things, you pretty much have the ultimate winning combination. We’re excited then, about the star-studded charity 5-a-side football tournament that is taking place at Sydney’s KIKOFF soccer centre in Marrickville on Friday 5th February. Yes, it’s the return of Musica Copa!
This year there are 20 teams (up from 16 teams last season and 12 teams in 2013), with a whopping $14,000 in prize money up for grabs for the top four finishing teams’ nominated charities. Having ourselves played in a charity match late last year, we can confirm that they are the best fun.
Heaps of familiar names and faces from the Australian music industry will be pulling on their boots for a day of fundraising and football, including our mates from FBi Radio, Future Classic, Groovin the Moo, Mushroom Group, Pedestrian, Red Bull Music Academy, Sony Music, Spotify and Universal Music.
New for 2016 is the mandatory inclusion of two females for every eight-player squad. Also new is the highly anticipated Beer and Burger Bar hosted by the legends at Young Henrys and Mary’s. Yummo!
Music Copa takes place on Friday 5th February 2016 at KIKOFF Fraser Park, Marrickville, between 2-10pm. Entry by Donation.
Plus for the first time ever (and in conjunction with KIKOFF Fraser Park) they are opening the tournament up to the public on Saturday 6th February as they present Musica Copa El Publico. Whilst the music industry attends the invitational tournament on the Friday, local 5-a-side teams can enter the following day for the chance to win their own bumper cash prize and raise even more money for charity. More information will be posted shortly on the KIKOFF website: www.kikoff.com.au/musicacopa
