Strike a pose at Madame Tussauds Sydney
We were listening to a Caitlin Moran interview earlier, in which she told the story of a night hanging out with Lady Gaga. It sounded like the most fun/mental/awesome evening ever (it involved fleeing the paparazzi, a German sex club and naked weeing). While that kind of thing doesn’t happen to mere mortals like us, we can at least point you in the direction of a fun night involving Gaga (kinda), dancers, fashion, drag artists, stylists, music and fun times.
In April, Madame Tussauds Sydney is set to come alive with Strike a Pose!, the latest in its Hijinks series of after-hours events. You can learn to vogue with professional dancer Diesel Darling, transform yourself in the make-over booth with Katya Lonsdale, take part in fashion illustration workshops and design the killer fashion accessory at the crafts station, run by burlesque performer Cody Cabana. Practice strutting on our catwalk and get snapped by the fashion photographers of Diabolique Photography (who also shoot for Something You Said!).
You can take selfies with wax fashionistas… from ol’ mate Gaga to Queen Kylie, get snapped with waxtastic RuPaul and Gok Wan, or compare vintage looks with Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe.
Go classic or avant-garde, retro or futuristic, but be sure to dress to impress the catwalk photographers, and possibly snatch a prize for best dressed from our harsh but fabulously fair judges. Be ready to describe your outfit to Kat & Joel, the presenters from OX Live Radio!
Runway-ready party tunes by DJ Nick La Rosa, pop-up bars and polaroid photo booths round out this unique experience. See you there!
