Photos: Jack Garratt live in Sydney
On Thursday night, British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Garratt played a Sydney sideshow at The Metro Theatre.
The musician has won the BBC Sound Poll Sound of 2016, the Brit’s Critics Choice Award, the BBC Introducing Award and the Spotify Spotlight Artist and has been hailed by critics, having “created his own brave, new, rapidly expanding world,” according to the Evening Standard. Safe to say this was a highly anticipated show.
Supporting was another Splendour-bound artist, Kacy Hill, whose single Foreign Fields, Arm’s Length was produced by none other than Garratt himself. Hill is a singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona, signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music and is definitely someone to have on your radar.
We sent photographer Adam Davis-Powell along to catch the show. Despite some pretty full-on sound/tech issues, the night was a huge winner. According to our intrepid photographer, Garratt combatted these problems with an “old school RnB takedown when the equipment broke”. Afterwards, Garratt tweeted “Sydney, I have no words. Only love and a huge amount of respect and appreciation for your patience. Thank for being with me this evening X”
