Oxford Art Factory celebrates ten years!
Yay, our spiritual home, Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, is turning ten soon! And, in keeping with their general ethos of bringing the good times all of the time, they’re throwing one heck of a shindig.
Opening in 2007 on Oxford Street, Oxford Art Factory bang-ganged its way into the Sydney live music and arts scene, filling the space with punters watching world class international performers and home grown talent, week in and out. The adjoining Gallery Bar is where thousands of artists have cut their teeth, performing their first shows and launching releases within the intimate space.
The venue holds a very special place in our hearts. Our editor used to DJ in the Gallery Bar every Friday and Saturday and we’ve witnessed some of our favourite ever shows in the main room, from the likes of Grimes, Adam Green, The Preatures, Pond, Jeffrey Lewis, Courtney Barnett and Bridezilla.
The OAF landed Lady Gaga’s first ever Australian show and, more recently, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins turned up to perform the best of the 70’s and 80’s with their cover band Chevy Metal.
The Oxford Art Factory is an important institution, keenly fighting the good fight to Keep Sydney Open and aiming to continuously provide a lovingly curated, diverse offering to music and art lovers in Sydney. We love them, and so should you.
In celebration of a decade of awesomeness, Oxford Art Factory will host an eclectic lineup of staff favourites from Sydney and interstate. The event features artists that have sold-out shows at the venue, to newcomers that are performing in Sydney for the first time.
The amazing news is that you can head along, FOR FREE! You can RSVP here and keep an eye on the latest news via the Facebook event here.
