Getting to Know Eastern Barbers

We asked South-East London brothers and multi-instrumentalists, Eastern Barbers, to tell us about themselves:

We are… a band, not the first hairdressers in Hackney that comes up when you look for us on Google.

“Blue Flakes” is… probably the ‘happiest’ sounding song we’ve written to date.

Home is… like our personal rehabilitation centre with in-house nutritionist.

We spend too much time… trawling through Whatsapp messages to recover voice memo ideas we’ve sent. And also, too much time deleting them to free up memory!!

We never… seem to wake up in time on the last train home out of Victoria. Keep ending up in random places on the way to Dover – like last weekend, ended up in a place called Maidstone, walked to the M20 junction with a placard I’d written to hitch a ride back towards London – was obviously unsuccessful.

It might surprise people to learn that… when we are about 9 or 10 the first song we put down on record was a cover of Robbie Williams’ power ballad ‘Feel’ – pre-voice breaking classic with an epic soprano sax solo.

In 2018, we hope to… bring our Mum on tour with us.
