Interview: Getting to know P-UniQue

The Cable Ties Ball is coming up at the Corner Hotel this Saturday 23 February. We asked on of the performing artists, P-UniQue, to tell us about herself:

I am… P-UniQue, an upcoming female rapper from Melbourne. I am 22 years old and I began taking music serious in August 2017 and it’s been the greatest decision I have ever made. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in the cover Beat magazine twice and to support many of my favourite musicians such Masta Ace, Nasty C and Jai Waetford to name a few. I was born in Sudan and that’s where my heart belongs but I call Australia home also as I am surrounded by those I love the most.

Bring Black Back is… my first debut album inspired by all the chaos focused around Sudanese youths in Melbourne. Every community has their fair share of bad apples, it saddens me when the behaviour of those is often generalised to the wider community. So, I guess this EP is to celebrate all youths from all communities that deal with exclusion and generalisation. With all the negativity in the media, its easy to get lost in all that so it’s good to remember their greatness and beauty inside and out.

Performing at the Cable Ties Ball will be… a very new and exciting experience for me. I love performing at different venues and gigs so I can familiarise myself with new people within the industry and new listeners.

Home is… where love and peace is.

I spend too much time… thinking about the next big thing to do. I love being involved in the community and working with young people because they are the future. so I am always looking for the next project and thing I can be part of to inspire and mentor young people to find their talent and pursuit that path.

I’ve never… understood how and WHY people eat pineapples in a pizza. ugh!

It might surprise people to learn that…. I deadass watch documentaries about anything and everything ALL DAY EVERYDAY! I don’t know I just love to learn random things ahaha I’m hooked bad.
