Getting to know Lauran Hibberd
Lauran Hibberd is a singer songwriter from the Isle Of Wight, who will be releasing her debut EP, Everything Is Dogs, soon. We asked her to tell us about herself:
I am Lauran Hibberd, a 22-year-old slacker pop artist from the Isle of Wight. Probably sat in my bedroom, plotting ways in which I can adopt all of the dogs in all of the world.
Everything Is Dogs is the name of my debut EP, my debut headline tour and my favourite saying, I use and apply to everything. I walked by a tattoo parlour in Brighton once, and they had a little sign in the window with it on, and I remember taking a photo of it and thinking there’s a song in that.
Home is on the Isle of Wight (everyone knows everyone town). I was born and raised here, it’s a cute little rock. I’m getting used to leaving it a lot, for all the fun reasons – like gigging across and even out of the country. My postman is very proud.
I’ve never been able to pick out a good song, I always love the tracks that are the least commercial or popular. So, I can never be in charge of which songs are mine are singles, I would one million percent get it wrong every time. And my career would be on a very fast moving downward spiral. I spend too much time trying to impress myself lyrically. I’m a huge word snob, so I’m always trying to one up myself from my last work. My notes on my phone are full of odd phrases, and I sometimes record peoples conversations in café’s. Anything to get that content ey! So make sure you avoid sitting near me at any point for confidentiality reasons.
It might surprise people to learn that I am a hypochondriac, I literally diagnose myself with a life threatening disease everyday. This fear is particularly enhanced whilst touring, so please know that and bring medical advice on professionals when watching me live.
In the future, I would love to release my debut album and tour around the UK, EU, US and Australia. I would love to meet some of my heroes, aka WEEZER. My plan B future is to own a waterpark, only play my songs through the speaker at said waterpark. Make a buck, lose the buck, and then talk about when I used to have the buck.
