Our Top Ten tunes of the week – November 8

These are the ten songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days:

1. Stella Donnelly – Season’s Greetings

Speaking of the video, Stella says: “From the moment I wrote ‘Season’s Greetings’, I could visualise a video concept for it. I wanted to try and exaggerate the sometimes nuanced atmosphere of a blisteringly hot, Australian Christmas lunch.”

2. FKA twigs – sad day

Here’s a slice from MAGDALENE, the follow up album to FKA twigs’ critically acclaimed Brit Award and Mercury Prize nominated debut, LP1.

3. Camille Christel – Goldsmith Street

Check out the excellent video for Camille’s latest track, taken from her forthcoming debut EP.

4. Erthlings – Returning

7. Port Royal – That’s How You Want It To Be

This single is taken from Port Royal’s forthcoming EP, Golden Years, scheduled for release in 2020.

8. aboutagirl – Deep Sea Diving

Speaking of the track, they said, “We wrote ‘Deep Sea Diving’ with some of our best mates in an old house in LA, which had a pool that was so dirty you couldn’t really see to the bottom. It was gross but it became this whole concept about trying to get to the bottom of someone’s real personality, seeing past all the fronting and pretences that they have.”

9. LAULIA – 13/7

In support of the release of ‘13/7’, the band have been on tour throughout October and will finish up 2019 with two more shows in Reading and Brighton, with further dates to be announced soon.

10. Black Summer – Double Edge feat. Aston

“The song itself is quite personal, but I feel like we’ve all been there – a situation where we may have been attracted to the wrong person or someone who wasn’t good for us,” the young artist, otherwise known as Rhys Toms, tells us.
